What Makes WIO-COMPAS Certification Unique?

The WIO-COMPAS certification is a rigorous, transparent, and structured evaluation system that recognizes the competence of Marine Protected Area (MPA) professionals across the Western Indian Ocean.

Unlike academic qualifications or training courses, certification is based on real-world experience, demonstrated skills, and ethical standards.

Level 1 – Marine Field Operations

For rangers and field staff managing daily operations, community engagement, and enforcement.

Level 2 – Site Management

For managers and wardens overseeing personnel, budgets, planning, and MPA site strategy.

Level 3 – Strategy, Policy & Planning

For senior professionals developing national/regional marine policies, coordinating agencies, and leading strategic initiatives.
